Two very proud Silversword Academy coaches at the Roberta Nutt Shield (U15 Foil) competition on Saturday 18 Feb 2017.
From Jack we saw intelligent, determined, focused and consistent fencing. In a field of 31 competitors he finished in the top 8, losing his final bout by a mere 1 point.
And Mei-Mei came home with some jewelry (bronze).
A very full day of fencing on Sunday 19 Feb 2017. In u11 Darcy and Daniel were machines and demonstrated skill and composure against the field with both finishing in the top 8. In u13 Connor attacked and parried beautifully also finishing in the top 8. Grace was the only u13 girl and fenced in the boys comp where she very much held her own with some fantastic footwork and composure to finish 10th overall. In the u20s female foil Courtney had a hard day at the office but persistence pays off and the fencing in her DE bout was just what Arash had ordered. She finished 5th. In the u20s men’s foil Jacob cracked a personal best in the poules and went on to finish7th. In the u20s epee Courtney had a great poules run and finished in 5th whilst Jonas is bringing home the bronze bling. Well done to all our fencers this weekend. Your willingness to listen, work hard and keep on trying is inspiring.
